This guide describes Dossier 0.x. Your store has Dossier , so some settings may be different or missing.
Custom Liquid
Custom Liquid holds code you paste yourself: an embed from an app, a widget from a booking or review service, a snippet written by a developer. The code runs only where you place the section, and you can add it to any page.
Before you paste code
Section titled “Before you paste code”Code added here is your responsibility. Theme support covers the theme, not the code you or your developer add to it: if the code breaks the page, slows it down or stops working, theme support can’t fix it. A theme update keeps the code as it is but doesn’t adapt it: if it stops working after an update, it isn’t migrated or repaired automatically. After each update, check the pages that use the section and ask whoever wrote the code to fix it if needed.
Paste code only from sources you trust. Code here can change the whole page, read what customers type and load scripts from other websites.
Need code written for you? ICT Sviluppo, the team behind Dossier, can do it.
Add the code
Section titled “Add the code”Paste the code into Liquid code. It can be plain HTML, Liquid, or a script tag from an app. If the field is empty, the section shows nothing in your store; in the theme editor a notice reminds you to add code, so you can still find and select it.
When an app offers an app block or an app embed, prefer it: apps update their blocks themselves, while pasted code stays as it is.
Keep the page fast and accessible
Section titled “Keep the page fast and accessible”The theme looks after speed, accessibility and search results on its own pages. Code you paste here can undo that, so ask your developer to:
- give every image an alternative text, and add
loading="lazy"to images that aren’t at the top of the page; - load scripts with
deferorasync, so they don’t hold up the rest of the page; - not add a second main heading (
<h1>): the page already has one; - not add structured data the theme already provides, such as product information on the product page, which would show search engines the same product twice.
Fit it into the page
Section titled “Fit it into the page”Use full page width lets the content reach the edges of the page instead of the content width. Vertical spacing sets the space above and below; choose None to join the section to the ones around it. The colors of the Color scheme apply to the background and text, unless the pasted code sets its own.
Show it only between two dates
Section titled “Show it only between two dates”Turn on Schedule visibility and set a start, an end, or both. See Scheduling.
Before the start date the section is hidden, but its code is already in the page: scripts in it run, and search engines can read its text. If the code must not run before a certain date, add the section on that date instead of scheduling it.
