Footer

The Footer closes every page: a newsletter signup, your menus and a short text at the top, and a bottom row with country and language, social media, policies, copyright and payment icons. It lives in the Footer group of the theme editor, and there can be only one.

The Email signup block is always the first column, on the left on computers and at the top on phones. You can change its heading and text, but not move or delete it: to remove the signup, hide the block. Customers who sign up are added to your customer list in the Shopify admin, with email marketing consent.

Next to the newsletter, add Menu and Text blocks in the order you want, up to eight in all. On computers they sit in up to four columns and wrap to a new row; on phones they go in pairs.

  • A Menu block shows the first level of a menu you choose. Create footer menus in your Shopify admin under Content > Menus. Leave Heading empty to use the menu’s title.
  • A Text block holds a heading and a paragraph: your address, opening hours or a note about your brand.

Collapse menus on mobile turns each menu into a row that customers tap to open, so a long footer takes less room on phones. On larger screens the menus are always open.

The links come from Theme settings > Social media: fill in the full address of each account there, and the footer shows a link for each one. Show social media links turns them on or off here, and Social media style shows them as names or as icons.

Show country/region selector and Show language selector appear only when your store sells in more than one country or region, or has more than one language. Add countries in Settings > Markets and languages in Settings > Languages in your Shopify admin. The Header shows these selectors only on wide computer screens, so on smaller screens customers find them here and in the Mobile menu.

Show payment icons displays the icons of the payment methods turned on in your payment settings, so they always match what customers can use at checkout. Show policy links lists the policies you wrote in Settings > Policies, such as the refund policy and privacy policy.

The copyright line with your store name and the current year is always shown.

Let customers follow your store in the Shop app

Section titled “Let customers follow your store in the Shop app”

Enable Follow on Shop adds a Follow button that Shopify draws in its own colors. It needs Shop Pay to be turned on in your payment settings; without it, the button doesn’t appear.

Use full page width stretches the footer to the edges of the screen. Vertical spacing sets the space above and below. Text case applies to headings, links and the bottom row; paragraphs keep regular case.

Color scheme colors the whole footer. When it is the same as the scheme of the last section on a page, turn on Show divider to draw a line between them.
