Collection banner

Collection banner opens every collection page: the collection title, its description and, if you want, its image, with breadcrumbs above. It is used on the collection template, above the Product grid, and you can add other sections between the two.

Edit the title, description and image

The banner has no text of its own: it shows what you write for each collection in Products > Collections in your Shopify admin. Change the title, description or image there and every collection page updates.

• The title is the main heading of the page.
• Links and lists in the description keep their formatting, and links are underlined so they don’t rely on color alone.
• Turn off Show collection description to keep the banner to the title only. Collections without a description show only the title anyway.

Show the collection image

Show collection image adds the collection image below the title, at the Image height you choose. Only the image set on the collection is used: collections without one show no image, and the banner never borrows a product photo.

The image is treated as decoration, because the collection name is already written right above it, so it doesn’t need alternative text. When the banner is the first section of the page, the image loads first to keep the page fast.

Show breadcrumbs

Show breadcrumbs shows the path to the collection above the title. The path follows the Breadcrumb menu set in Theme settings > Navigation: if the collection sits under another item in that menu, the parent appears in the path. Collections that aren’t in the menu show Home and the collection name.

Line it up with the product grid

Use full page width gives the banner the same narrow side margins as the product grid below. Keep the two settings the same so the title, description and products share one edge.
