Page

Page shows the title and the text of a page you write in your Shopify admin: About us, Shipping and returns, Care instructions, a size guide. It is the first section of every page template, and the contact page uses it above the Contact form. You can add other sections below it.

Write the title and text

The section has no text settings. The title and the text are the page’s own, written in Online Store > Pages in your Shopify admin. Change them there and every template that shows the page follows.

• The text keeps the formatting of the pages editor: headings, lists, links, images and tables.
• A wide table scrolls sideways on phones instead of squeezing its columns. Customers using a keyboard can reach it with the Tab key and scroll it with the arrow keys.
• Use headings from the editor’s Heading 2 downward. The page title is already the main heading.

Choose the layout

Layout sets where the title sits on large screens:

• Heading beside text puts the title on the left and the text on the right, a calm, editorial look that suits short pages.
• Heading above text puts the title on top of a single centered column, which reads better on long pages.

On phones and tablets the title is always above the text. Either way the lines stay short enough to read comfortably, even with Use full page width on. In right-to-left languages, such as Arabic and Hebrew, left and right swap automatically.

Show where the page sits in your store

Show breadcrumbs adds a trail above the title, such as Home / About us. If the page is in the menu chosen in Theme settings > Navigation > Breadcrumb menu, the trail follows that menu; otherwise it is just Home and the page. The breadcrumbs also help search engines understand how your pages are organized.

Use different layouts for different pages

To give one page another look, for example the contact page, create a new template in the theme editor based on the page template, change its settings and sections, and assign it to the page in the Theme template field of the page in Online Store > Pages.
