# Rich text

Rich text is a band of words between your images: a caption, a heading, a paragraph and a button, in any order. Use it to say what the store sells and how, to introduce a collection, or to explain a service such as repairs or returns. You can add it to any page.

## Add and arrange the content

The section is built from blocks. Add **Caption**, **Heading**, **Text** and **Button** blocks and drag them into the order you want; each type can be used more than once.

- The first heading also names the section for screen readers, so start with a heading when the band has one.
- A button without a link is hidden in your store. In the theme editor a notice marks it until you choose a link.

## Align the text

**Content alignment** puts the text on the left, in the center or on the right. In right-to-left languages, such as Arabic and Hebrew, left and right swap automatically.

## Add a background image or video

Under **Background**, choose an image or a video uploaded to Shopify, with an optional different file for phones. YouTube and Vimeo videos are not supported here: use the [Video](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-video) section for them.

**Overlay opacity** covers the background with the background color of the section’s color scheme. The text keeps the scheme’s text color, so raise the overlay until the text is easy to read on your photo. Write the image’s alternative text in **Content > Files** in your Shopify admin.

When Rich text with a background is the first section of the home page, the transparent header of the [Header](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/h-header) section can sit on top of it.

## Show it only between two dates

Turn on **Schedule visibility** and set a start, an end, or both. See [Scheduling](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/scheduling).
