# Email signup

Source: <https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-newsletter/>

Email signup is a band where customers subscribe to your emails, with a few words of your choice beside the form: what you send and how often. In the theme editor you add it as **Newsletter**. The home page has one near the bottom, and you can add it to any page.

## Find your subscribers

Each subscriber is added to your customers in your Shopify admin, with email marketing consent and the tag `newsletter`. If the address already belongs to a customer, Shopify updates that customer instead of creating a new one. You can then send them emails with Shopify Email or any email app that reads your customer list. See [Manage customers](https://help.shopify.com/manual/customers/manage-customers) in the Shopify Help Center.

Under the field, a short note tells customers that they agree to receive your emails and can unsubscribe at any time. If you have written a privacy policy in **Settings > Policies**, a link to it appears there too.

Shopify may add a spam check (hCaptcha) to the form. It comes from Shopify, not from the theme, and customers may occasionally be asked to complete a challenge.

## Write the words around the form

The form is always there. The words beside it are blocks: **Caption**, **Heading** and **Text**, the same as in [Rich text](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-rich-text). Add, reorder or remove them; without any block, the form stands on its own.

- The first heading also names the section for screen readers, so start with a heading when you can. Without one, the section is called “Newsletter”.
- Be honest about what subscribers get. Avoid promising discounts or a schedule you can’t keep.

## Choose the layout

**Layout** sets how words and form share the band on large screens:

- **Text beside form** puts the words on the left and the form on the right, aligned at the bottom.
- **Centered** stacks everything in one centered column.

On phones the text is always above the form. In right-to-left languages, such as Arabic and Hebrew, left and right swap automatically.

## Avoid two forms on one page

The [Footer](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/f-footer) has its own newsletter signup. Both work, but if you’d rather not show the form twice on the same page, remove this section or hide the footer’s newsletter block.

## Show it only between two dates

Turn on **Schedule visibility** and set a start, an end, or both. See [Scheduling](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/scheduling).
