# Announcement bar

The Announcement bar is the thin line above the [Header](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/h-header), on every page. Use it for short news customers should see before anything else: free shipping, free returns, the start of a sale. It lives in the Header group of the theme editor, and there can be only one.

## Write the announcements

Each announcement is an **Announcement** block, with a short text and an optional link. You can add up to five, in the order you want.

With two or more announcements, customers browse them with the arrows, or by dragging the bar sideways with the mouse or a finger. The bar never changes announcement on its own, so nobody has to read against the clock. It is as tall as the longest announcement, so it doesn’t jump when the text changes; keep each one to a single short line, especially for phones.

An announcement without text isn’t shown. When no announcement is left to show, the bar disappears and takes no space.

## Let customers close the bar

With **Show close button**, customers can close the bar. It stays closed on every page until they close the browser tab, then comes back on their next visit.

## Show an announcement only between two dates

Each announcement can appear only between two dates, for example during a sale. Turn on **Schedule visibility** in the block and set a start, an end, or both. See [Scheduling](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/scheduling).

In the theme editor, scheduled announcements stay visible with a label that says whether they are hidden in your store, so you can still edit them.

## Change the look

**Color scheme** colors the bar; by default it uses a dark scheme that sets it apart from the header. **Text case** shows the announcements in uppercase or as you wrote them.
