# Scheduling

Source: <https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/scheduling/>

Scheduling shows a section or a block only between a start and an end date, so a sale banner, a launch slide or a holiday announcement appears and disappears on its own. You prepare it in advance in the theme editor and publish the theme as usual.

## What can be scheduled

Content sections that you add to your pages: Blog posts, Collapsible content, Collection list, Contact form, Countdown, Custom Liquid, Email signup, Featured collection, Featured product, Image with text, Logo list, Product recommendations, Recently viewed, Rich text, Scrolling text, Shop the look, Slideshow, Store locator, Testimonials and Video.

Promotional blocks inside a section:

- **Announcement** in the [Announcement bar](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/h-announcement-bar);
- **Mega menu promotion** in the [Header](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/h-header);
- **Promotion** in the [Product grid](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/main-collection-product-grid);
- **Collection** in the [Collection list](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-collection-list);
- **Logo or icon** in the [Logo list](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-logo-list);
- **Slide** in the [Slideshow](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-slideshow).

Structural sections (header, footer, cart, the main section of each page) and single texts or buttons cannot be scheduled.

## Schedule a section or a block

1. Select the section or block in the theme editor.
2. Under **Schedule**, turn on **Schedule visibility**.
3. Fill in **Start date and time**, **End date and time**, or both, in the format `YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM`, for example `2026-11-27 08:00`.
4. Save.

- With only a start, the content appears at that time and stays.
- With only an end, the content is visible now and disappears at that time.
- Turning off **Schedule visibility** shows the content again; the dates are kept for next time.

## Which time zone the dates use

Dates follow the time zone of your store, set in **Settings > General** in your Shopify admin, not the time zone of your computer or of your customers.

## What you see in the theme editor

The theme editor always shows scheduled content, so you can edit it at any time. A notice on the section or block says **Scheduled: hidden on your online store right now** when it is outside its dates.

If a date is not in the `YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM` format, or the end does not come after the start, the notice says **Schedule ignored** and the invalid date is treated as empty. Check the notice after saving.

## How customers see the change

The content appears and disappears at the exact minute, even on a page that was already open or that comes from a cache. An ended section is removed from the page entirely, so it does not slow it down. Customers never see a date or a countdown: for a visible countdown, use the [Countdown](https://docs.ictsviluppo.example/dossier/sections/section-countdown) section.

> **Several scheduled items:**
>
> In the Announcement bar and in the Slideshow, rotation and arrows count only the items that are visible now. Schedule items one after another to run a sequence of promotions.
